Villamartín grew around a golf course, and the course is still the middle of it: the streets, the plaza and the apartment blocks were laid out around the fairways rather than around a beach, which is why it is the one part of our area that does not face the sea.
The apartments and townhouses around the course belong to a lot of owners who spend only part of the year on the coast, so Home Care checks are popular here — somebody looking in on the place, sending photos, and opening it up before a flight lands. The flats look onto fairways rather than onto water, and the plaza in the middle is where the bars and the shops are.
Villamartín is in Orihuela Costa, a short drive inland from Playa Flamenca and next to Los Dolses. It is in our core area, so there is no travel charge. Playa Flamenca is a few minutes down towards the coast and La Zenia's shopping centre a few minutes beyond it, so most owners here drive to the beach rather than walk.
